System Administrator


Key Duties and Responsibilities

•   Remote access solutions: Citrix, VPN, Terminal Services
•   Backup, business continuity, and disaster recovery solutions
•   Networking: WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and security
•   VoIP telephone systems
•   Other hardware and peripherals
•   Maintain and update site and network documentation
•   Coordinate with managers to assist and advise in product purchases
•   Management of server configuration, security, and patching
•   Provisioning of administration of user credentials and permissions
•   Monitor, manage, and maintain server applications
•   Monitor, troubleshoot, and support server backups
•   Maintain power and environmental control systems for server room
•   Communicate errors and issues to the Corporate Services Manager
•   Manage mobile devices through mobile device management software
•   Assist with the setup, imaging, configuration and maintenance of end-user workstations
•   Second level user support and troubleshooting
•   Train end users on use of systems and programs
•   Managing current and future network and server infrastructure
•   Participate and assist in project work
•   Maintain or improve technical proficiency via courses, exams, certifications, etc.
•   Offer support to both the software development team and the automation team
•   Other duties as requested

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

•   Minimum of 3 years of experience working for a managed services provider, or 4 years of relevant IT experience
•   An interest in obtaining IT certifications such as: Microsoft MCP, MCSA, MCSE, Citrix CCEA or CCIA, Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Net+, Security +, AWS or Azure
•   An entry- to intermediate-level of understanding of the technologies, solutions, troubleshooting and support required to help our clients
•   Honest, dependable and full of integrity

The work is mainly office and laboratory-based, with regular visits to plants, factories, workshops or building sites. Factory production areas can be noisy. Dress code can vary from that necessary for office-based work to a hard hat and overalls when working on site. Travel within a working day is possible.

In addition to meeting some of the desired skill sets listed, the applicant should be motivated and work well within a team to accomplish complex tasks. The applicant should be willing to work in an R&D and production environment. As safety and the environment are very important to Urban Mining Company, the applicant should be motivated to work in a safe manner, while meeting achievable deadlines. The job will require that the applicant conduct all their work at our facility, as is required.
